I want to speak to those whose skin colour is a little dark or very dark. Those that are dark and lovely. Wonderfully created for the glory of God. You may be called black, but don’t forget, the colour black is a beautiful bold colour. It is a base colour for many others. It stands out, can’t be mistaken and boldly makes a statement. I encourage you to be bold like black. Speak your heart. Live your dreams. Don’t try to blend in but rather stand out. Don’t just be black on the outside and confused on the inside. Be bold as your colour suggests. Don’t be torn between two opinions. Be bold and very courageous. Black is bold. No two ways about it. You are boldly.
SCRIPTURE READING: Song of Solomon 1:5-7
Young women of Jerusalem, I’m dark and lovely like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. Don’t stare at me because I’m dark; the sun has tanned me. My mother’s sons were angry with me. They made me the caretaker of the vineyards, but I didn’t take care of my own vineyard. Tell me, you whom I love, where do you graze your flock? Where do you make your flock lie down at noon? Why should I be considered a veiled woman beside the flocks of your companions?
Dear God, give me an understanding of your grace and goodness upon my life. Let me count the blessings you have bestowed on me. Let me learn to look beyond the grass that is green over the fence and see your blessing where you have placed me. Any may I be bold about your work in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
