I have heard people trash hard work in the name of working smart. Some have even gone as far as calling work a thing of the Law and not Grace. They clearly prefer pleasure to labour and find any excuse to get out of labor. I am not talking about manual labour, but the work ethic that requires productivity and adds value to your world. The apostle Paul called himself a laborer in the Lord and encouraged good hard work. Jesus worked hard preaching the gospel, casting out devils and healing the sick. Are you labouring in the Lord? Do you put effort, time, diligence and skill into a particular enterprise? Are you giving everything you’ve got, everyday? There is no substitute to godly labour. Get going and do what you’ve got to do. God is working in you to reveal a more glorious version of you. But it’s going to take your willingness, surrender and effort in due diligence. Don’t wait for things to happen. Get up and make it happen.
SCRIPTURE READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:57-58
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Dear God, thank you for life and strength today. May I use them to expand your kingdom and add value to my world. May my life be spent in your labour serving you each day. Grant me the work ethic that will not rest until the mission at hand is accomplished in Jesus’s name. Amen.
