It is a very good habit to put your money in something that will give you money back with time. We have all heard about the guy called the landlord. This fellow put his money into real estate and buildings over time. His money appreciates and gains value most of the time. His asset doesn’t depreciate with time. If his initial investment is one million, chances are it will never go below that in value. Then there are some who put their money into things that are not assets. They depreciate faster than you can blink. I am talking about flashy cars, clothes, fancy dinners, parties and field trips. That flashy car begins to lose its value the moment you drive it out of the showroom. We all know that the exquisite dinner loses value the moment it enters your mouth. That’s why I say you are in trouble if you drive a Range Rover when you still have a landlord. Put your money where it will increase in value.
I am not talking about being cheap but rather strategic. It’s best to buy the expensive pair of shoes that will last ten years instead of that cheap type that works only for a month. It’s best to buy your own house in a cheaper community than rent a large one on the beach front you can’t afford. Stop giving away your hard earned cash without consideration of the consequences. There are things you can put your money into and it will stay solid even after twenty years. There are things that take your money and evaporate with it after one month. So put your money into assets. It’s a simple good money habit.

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

Dear God, grant me insight and revelation so I can spend my money on the things that bring the best value. Take me beyond impulsive spending to a place of strategic investment. May I get the best out of my money and let my money keep working for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen
