This is a common expression that emphasizes the importance of objectivity. Keep your eyes on the ball. There are many distractions that perpetually fight for your attention. This generation is overwhelmed by the many options that keep pounding us from every direction. Everyone is selling something special to whoever they come across all the time. The noise is deafening and the movements blinding. You literary have a headache trying to keep up with all that’s going on. This is why you must choose your ball for the season and keep your eyes on it at all times.
Let your eyes focus onto what God is doing in your life today and ignore everything else. You will also have to ignore what God is doing in other people’s lives. Be happy for them and bless them but don’t spend all your energy trying to keep up with what is happening everywhere. God is up to some glorious and beautiful work in your life. Keep your eyes on where you are with God. Don’t lose your joy trying to keep up with something else other than what the Lord is doing in your life. Keep your eyes on the ball.
SCRIPTURE READING: PHILIPPIANS 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I choose to keep my eyes on the ball. I keep my eyes on what you are doing in my life. I meditate on what is true, noble, just, pure, and lovely in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
