Most people you find on an elevator look satisfied and content to be there. They could have taken the stairs and gone through the tough road to the top. But being on that elevator is the best possible option available. They mostly stand there and just spend the next few minutes catching their breath and enjoying the ride. They mostly look content and resigned to the fact that this the best thing they could have in this situation. Gratitude is a result of being content. Knowing that nothing could get any better.
Walking with the Lord should be accompanied with a sense of contentment. I am not talking about the lack of aspiration but knowing beyond any doubt that everything is under control and God is working in you. It is knowing that having Jesus is truly the best thing that could ever happen to you. Being convinced that it doesn’t matter what comes your way, you are blessed and covered in the grace of God. It is refusing the world and its approach of quick-fixes because you know that the Lord has got you covered. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that the creator of the universe is your daddy and as you live a life of fulfillment and contentment. This is not because of worldly things but knowing and having Jesus in your life. Refuse the shortcuts and stay focused on the real deal.
SCRIPTURE READING: 1 TIMOTHY 6:6-7
But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, I’m grateful because my walk with you is accompanied with a sense of contentment. I believe beyond a doubt that everything is under control and You are working in me. Grant me the grace to fully be content in you in Jesus’ Name. Amen
