Many good hearted people want to serve the Lord but never get the time. Between family, work and life, our lives are too crowded to add other commitments. We therefore wish we could, but never get the time to serve. We find it easier to slip in and out every now and then without having to commit to anything. Time management becomes a matter of priority and putting our energy where we feel should be.
Allow me to propose giving God a tithe of your time. Yes we have heard about giving God ten percent of our money. But the same principle applies to time. God has placed you on the earth and given you time. The tithe principle is that you return to God ten percent of all your increase. So as you increase in time on earth, ten percent of that time belongs to God. Every tenth day of your life should be dedicated to God. Yes we should give God every day of our lives but we all know that we get caught up doing many good things that don’t make a difference in the kingdom. How about giving one day a week where you go about kingdom business.
SCRIPTURE READING: Deuteronomy 14:22-23
You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year. And you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly father, teach me how to tithe my time. May I be able to commit myself unto serving you. Let everything of my life be dedicated to you in Jesus’ name. Amen
