Most jobs and industries motivate their people with money. A big pay check, wonderful pension, all the bells and whistles. Though this is going to give you results in the corporate world, it can be a disaster for the work of ministry. I am not saying that a ministry shouldn’t pay its people. Money is the wrong motivator for ministry. The greatest asset for any ministry is its army of volunteers. These are the unpaid trench soldiers who work with all their hearts to get results. It’s not about the money but about the mission.
Give your heart to serve because of your love for the king and not your love for money. Perpetually remind yourself what the big picture and the goal is. Refuse to be tempted into becoming a hired gun or a hireling. Your life has been touched and transformed by the Love of God meaning that you can’t help it but share the same love with others and serve this God who has loved you so. Your reward is far greater than the pay check you can get. God will take care of you and bless you far beyond your wildest imagination. Be motivated to serve by the love of God and not the love of money.
SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 12:31-34
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom. “Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Loving father, am grateful for your unfailing love towards me. I choose to serve you by your love and not by money. I believe my reward is far greater than the pay check I can get. Today I choose to seek the kingdom of God above all else. Hallelujah!
