There are people who have mastered the art of being miserable and negative. They steal any joy you bring and put you at the bottom of everything going on around you. I am sure we have all come across people that literary drain you of joy, peace, strength or anything you may have to offer. Spending time with the wrong people can cost you your peace and joy. The wrong crowd will confuse, distract and discourage you. If you marry such a person then you have to deal with that negativity on a daily basis.
Avoid negative crowds and individuals. Choose those who bring value and joy into your life and get out of your way to spend time with them. Learn to accept what you see in people and stop deceiving yourself about them. Those that add value to your life should be known to you just as much as those that steal your joy. Do everything possible to avoid those that steal your joy and give quality time to those that add the joy of the Lord in your life.
SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
Devotion Prayer: Father help me choose the right company in my life. May you connect me with people who are filled with joy in Jesus’ name, Amen.
