There is always a vast difference between visitors and permanent dwellers of a particular area. Visitors get to experience the spur of a moment which may be seasonal or holiday celebration. On the other hand permanent dwellers get the chance and blessing of experiencing the various seasons of an area or location. When people from Africa that live in the diaspora return back to visit their home land they are able to enjoy the nice weather, nice and healthy food to mention but a few. These things are always available in the homeland. In the same way God through His Word speaks about the blessedness of those who dwell in His presence.
Several times God beckons us as His Children to come into and abide in His presence. He as a gentle Father will not force or coerce us but simply invite us. The onus is ours to respond appropriately to that invitation into His presence not as visitors but as permanent dwellers. David the psalmist said in God’s presence there is fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasures forevermore. This means that if we are frequent visitors of God’s presence we will only enjoy the blessings of visitors. But if we are permanent dwellers we will enjoy the fullness of the blessings that are available to dwellers. These include joy, peace, protection provision, guidance and so many more. May we learn to dwell and not be in a hurry to run away as the world and the devil try to often lure us away from God’s presence.
