LEARNING TO SHAKE OFF THE WORRY CLOAK

The principles that God wants His children to live by are way different from those that people who don’t know Him live by. God often encourages His Children not to worry, fret or get anxious about anything. It has been noted that in the presence of anxiety humans seldom think about issues of life rationally or objectively. It is as though another law or influence is at work. It is typically the ploy of the enemy to attack God’s children through sending fearful thoughts that stir up anxiety. The reason why the enemy does this is to poison the thoughts of God’s children. Once the enemy succeeds in sowing the negative thoughts, he knows that he will get a harvest. That is why Paul the Apostle encouraged the Christians from the Church at Philippi not to be anxious about anything but rather take everything to God in prayer, petition with thanksgiving. When you look at that portion of scripture it sounds like Paul is saying you have to disengage the negative thoughts that stir up anxiety then engage a new gear that fosters the operation of God and His Spirit.

It is amazing that after disengaging the negative thoughts and engaging God through prayer and thanksgiving God promises to flood the hearts of His children with peace that surpasses all human understanding. This all has to be done when the Christian is intentional about what is going on. Like one man of God said, let the devil do his fooling around elsewhere but not in your mind and life. Don’t allow him to build a nest in your mind where he lays his negative thoughts and words.  Instead pull those down and get God’s Word into your mind through studying and meditation. Throw off the cloak of worry and put on the cloak of faith. The just shall live by faith!

SCRIPTURE READING: Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for delivering me from anxiety and worry. Fear is not my portion. Faith in You is my portion. I lift my needs to you in prayer and trust that you take care of all of them in Jesus Name, Amen
