To grow and develop in life, one needs to learn how to temper and harness their energies for gainful purposes. This will usually call for a great level of self-control. Self-control is not the self or the flesh controlling you and me but the self being under control. When you look at people who excel in the fields of sports, they usually stick to a strict routine of feeding, working out as well as resting. Why is this done? To ensure that their bodies, souls and minds are tempered or in check to get the task at hand done effectively. Many times winners of gold, silver or bronze medals at the national and international levels have to invest a lot in terms of controlling their passions to get to that level. When you look at where God is taking you, you often realise that you have no business being in some places. We are not talking about being arrogant or a snob but controlling one’s flesh to avoid being driven off the path God has intended for you because our passions can lead us astray. Do not let the self or flesh ruin the moment and mess up the supernatural harvest that God has in store for you.
2 Timothy 1: 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your Spirit. I submit to His leading as He helps me develop self-control in my life to ensure that my passions don’t mess up with the supernatural harvest you have brought us into in Jesus Name, Amen.
