RELATIONSHIPS TEST YOUR LOYALTY TO YOUR VISION

Your relationships with people, at different levels can try your loyalty to your God-given vision. Some people are there to help you but some may discourage you either because they don’t understand what you are carrying or they do understand but are intimidated by what you carry. They give harmful advice, withhold support or out-rightly plot to destroy your vision.

Discouragers or attackers could be spouses, family members, friends or even bad mentors and leaders. Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers because he articulated a powerful vision. They even nick-named him “dreamer”. Yet Joseph kept his faith in God. Because God will protect your vision from “haters”

David’s future was severely tried by his turbulent relationship with Saul, the man who was supposed to be his mentor. Even the Apostle Paul was betrayed many times but he trusted in God. There are some relationships you have to let go because they are not part of your destiny. Pray about your relationships. Tread wisely. Get rid of toxic friend’s and associates who come to pull you down. Surround yourself with people who support your vision.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Timothy 4.14-18

Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done. You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message. At my first defence, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them but the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Lord give me a discerning heart to know those who will help me and those sent to destroy me. Thank you because you have promised to protect me from evil if I trust in you
