THE GIFT OF LIFE

I believe the gift of life is probably that indescribable gift the word talks about. Many people take life for granted until it’s too late. Being alive is such an awesome opportunity. The gift of life opens up your life to the rest of the blessings that are only accessible to the living. Without life all other blessings and gifts are futile. What is the value of a million dollars to a dead man? What is the worth of a beautiful smile to a dead woman? The gift of life gives you access to the marvellous gifts of God.

May you live each day celebrating the life you have. May you make the most of every day you are on the planet. May your time here be so well spent that you make a difference and leave a positive mark. May you leave the planet much better than you found it. May your life make such a contribution to the lives of those around you that your absence will be felt for decades after you are gone. May you enjoy each day you are alive and spend it doing things that you love with the people that you love. You have the ultimate gift in your possession, make the most of it.

Don’t forget you have the life of God inside you. Yes you are not just a physical human being with the life of a Dog or a tree. The eternal, spiritual life of God is at work in your life. Don’t take things from the natural perspective only. There is a spiritual dynamic to your life. You have the life of God working in you to bring life and light to your world.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, teach me to live each day celebrating the life that I have. I know that I have the life of God in me which is the ultimate gift in my possession. With this understanding I don’t take things for granted. Amen
