I was never good at mathematics back in school. My teacher was a drunkard that didn’t take the time to work with his students. He only talked to the two students sitting on the front row. So I grew up thinking I can’t do maths. My best score was 13% and for six exams in two years I always got 13%. Many years later as I was starting a business, I was asked to prepare a business plan including projected financials. I tried to get an accountant to do this for me but the cost was prohibitive so I decided to do the work myself. I suddenly realised that mathematics wasn’t that hard and I actually had a knack for it. Within one week I had all the work done and my mind changed about my ability to do maths. I was motivated to learn more and not be restricted by my past. Within a few years I was solving complicated problems and guiding auditors.
I am talking about the grace of God as a motivator for you. The things you thought were too hard are not that hard. Grace makes them easy. The sin that held you back is not that hard to overcome. You can do all things through Christ that gives you strength. Grace motivates to you to reach out and become. It doesn’t tell you to hold back and fail but rather motivates you to reach beyond yourself and do that which was impossible. Don’t hang your gloves or throw in the towel. Grace will get you going where others fail. It will give you success in the face of defeat. Don’t resign yourself to defeat and condemnation. Get going, you can capture that mountain. You have what it takes to get the job done so, just do it!
