OIL CHANGE

I will never forget a good church lady who once called me because her vehicle was having trouble. As a good pastor I quickly responded to the emergency with my trusted assistant and went to sort her out. Once we got to her, we quickly checked the instrumentation on the dashboard and there was this check engine sign. We popped the bonnet to check the engine oil level and were shock to find that the engine had no oil. She was equally surprised because she had no idea that the vehicle needed an oil change every three months or so. She had run this vehicle for over a year without changing oil once. Obviously the oil had become too old and eventually clogged up causing this engine seizure.

The Holy Spirit is the spiritual oil that keeps us going. Every Christian needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit to function in the Lord. Every so often, the Christian needs to get off the road and take time out to be renewed in the Spirit by receiving a fresh anointing from the Lord. What you received yesteryear will eventually run old and run out. You need that fresh living water to give you the grace and strength for now.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 92:8-15

But You, Lord, are on high forevermore. For behold, your enemies, O Lord, for behold, your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil. My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies; my ears hear my desire on the wicked who rise up against me. The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

DEVOTION PRAYER: My loving father am grateful for this new refreshment of Your spirit. I never run out, every day you give me new strength to function. Amen
