My little girl had her birthday coming and locked down what she wanted for a present. She had watched the frozen movie a million times and decided that she had to try her talents as Princess Elsa and so she wanted that princess dress. For over two weeks, her mind was clear and she wanted that princess Elsa dress for her birthday. I tried to talk her out of it to no avail and eventually gave in and went shopping. It was a good day as we managed to find not only the dress but the crown and a few colouring books to make it happen. What really got me excited was the desire in my little girl to get what she wanted.
Human needs and desires are at the core of what we seek and pursue. If we can horn in our desire for God and lock down our hearts on to Him, we can’t be denied. Time and again we see that people go after the things they desire. They also blindly ignore what they don’t desire that it’s almost none existent. The law of desire simply is “The things we desire we pursue and the things we pursue are attracted to us.” May you turn your heart to desire after God. Take time to study His word and intensify that desire. May you ignore the many things that may try to steal your heart and reserve it for the Lord and no one else. Desire the presence of God, His power, His word, His gifts and the living water that He gives.
SCRIPTURE READING: Psalms 84:1-3 How lovely is Your tabernacle, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she may lay her young Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, My King and my God.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Oh Lord! Teach my heart to desire for You. May my soul long after Your word, power, gifts and the living water that you give. Amen
