Daily Devotion

The Bible teaches that after His baptism, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness where He was to be tempted by the devil. Jesus didn’t just go around doing whatever it is He felt like. Also, He never did things haphazardly. As opposed to following His own will, He chose to be guided by the Holy Spirit. This means that without the leading of the Holy Spirit, Jesus would have had no mission, no vision, and no direction; in other words, without the Holy Spirit, Christ wouldn’t have been able to fulfill His destiny. Jesus clearly understood this reality and so He fully submitted Himself to be led by the Holy Spirit.

Likewise, just as it was the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to lead Jesus Christ, it still is the responsibility of the same Holy Spirit to lead God’s children into the will of God today. To ignore and shun the leading of the Spirit is to ignore the will of God for your life.

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 4:1 THEN JESUS, full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led in by the Holy Spirit…Galatians 5:25 If we live by the Holy Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.

DEVOTION PRAYER:Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit; it is only because of His help that I am able to do your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen
