Now, many people run away from the ministry because they think it is boring, dull and not fun at all. They feel the call to ministry will kill their social lives, get them to bed before the sun goes down and strip them of excitement and enthusiasm about life. Sadly that is so far from the truth. Serving God is so much fun, it will take you to so many places, get you meeting so many people and keep you out of bed for so many hours. The miracles and blessings of God will give you so much joy and excitement, you will forever stay young. Imagine the joy of seeing a soul saved and transformed. Imagine the excitement when cripples jump out of wheelchairs. Imagine the thrill of answered prayer. It is far better than what you think you get from the things of this world.
The joy of the Lord is your default setting when you walk with God and do His will. The world gives happiness as a result of happenings. But joy comes from the Lord because it is not connected to the things around you. Serving Jesus means having joy even in a broken down world because you have a joy and peace whose origin is not in the things of the world but in the Lord alone. The fun I have in one year of serving Jesus far outweighs what the world could offer in ten years of throbbing.
SCRIPTURE READING: NEHEMIAH 8:10
And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”
DEVOTION PRAYER: Oh Lord, as I minister may i do it with joy and excitement. Teach me to continuously serve with joy. Amen
