Some people have told me serving God is so hard. They have read stories and heard about the challenges of ministry that they just concluded this was too hard for them. The fasting, praying, preaching, confrontations, arguments, faith and all this focus to walk the straight and narrow path makes it too hard. They would rather not have to deal with all that. I wish that was the case. Life regardless of the path you take will present a fair share of toughness and challenges. That is why when a baby is born, the first thing they do is cry. The womb is nice and comfortable you don’t have to do a thing. But the moment you come out you must start to do. When the baby doesn’t cry, they get a quick spank to kick start the cry, and everyone is excited they cried.
The way of the sinner is hard. Refusing to walk with and follow the Lord is far harder than walking with Him. Yes, you live without rules and expectations for as long as you want till you discover that those expectations were for your good and you are lost without them. Then you will wish you had followed the principles of God. It is far easier to serve God than yourself, the world or the devil. You are going to live for someone or something. You might as well serve Jesus. The flesh is futile, the world is fleeting and the devil is plain hard. It is easy to serve Jesus.
SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 11:28-30
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly father, grateful for Your spirit that teaches me. Your yoke is easy and your burden is light. I live a life following your principles. I choose to serve you with ease in Jesus’ name.
