Daily Devotion

Modern military warfare has advanced with the advent of technology. Gone are the days when the sword is a precise weapon. The aircraft carrier is too big and bulky you can’t spring a surprise attack. We live in the day of the drone. This is a high flying remote weapon carrier system that can get anywhere with stealth and precision. Those who detect an incoming drone attack have only but a few seconds to spare. The precision of the drone attack is so accurate, a target can be singled out of a crowd and executed.

Left handed leaders must operate with precision. The disadvantages of being different must be offset with the efficiency of precision and accuracy. You can’t afford to be bulky, loud and clumsy. You must be a lean, mean machine that carries out its objectives before others realise its mission. Ehud was lean and mean. He was very precise with his operation. There was hardly any room for error, fun fare or fooling about. He was done with the mission at hand with such stealth and precision, no one realised what had happen. Be precise with what you are doing. Just do it!

SCRIPTURE READING: Judges 3:12-30 Now Ehud made himself a dagger (it was double-edged and a cubit in length) and fastened it under his clothes on his right thigh. So he brought the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. (Now Eglon was a very fat man.)  And when he had finished presenting the tribute, he sent away the people who had carried the tribute.  But he himself turned back from the stone images that were at Gilgal, and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” He said, “Keep silence!” And all who attended him went out from him. So Ehud came to him (now he was sitting upstairs in his cool private chamber). Then Ehud said, “I have a message from God for you.” So he arose from his seat.  Then Ehud reached with his left hand, took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly. Even the hilt went in after the blade, and the fat closed over the blade, for he did not draw the dagger out of his belly; and his entrails came out. Then Ehud went out through the porch and shut the doors of the upper room behind him and locked them.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, teach me to be precise and effective in ministry. As a left-handed minister I choose to be effective. Amen
