Life can be monotonous, repetitive and sometimes frustrating. The daily grind wears you off, leaves you tired and many times doesn’t satisfy. The responsibilities on your shoulders demand that you keep going, “day in and day out” just to keep up. The cure is to occasionally drop everything and get away for a season of refreshing. Instead of clinging on to a point of diminishing returns, you can choose to lay down your tools for a time of refreshing.
This is what we have at the core of time in the secret place. Get away from your daily routine and daily chase. Pull the emergency brakes and bring your life to a hold, so you can get time alone with God. Get away from the rush hour traffic, teacher-parent meetings, volunteering at your village library and go into your secret place. Get away from your chores and responsibilities so you can sit uninterrupted at the feet of Jesus. You can get away for a week, three days, one day or just a few hours each day. What counts is dropping everything for time in the presence of God.
SCRIPTURE READING:Mathew 14:22-23 Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, teach me to have a secret moment with you. May I get away from the noise and concentrate on You in Jesus’ name, Amen.
