As a human being that is alive and well today, there are certain things that are a must for you. Breathing, eating and drinking must be done in healthy intervals throughout your life. Failing to do some of these things means you will become dehydrated, malnourished and eventually die in matter of days. Obviously breathing is very critical, five minutes is about the max you can avoid it.
There are certain things that a Christian must pay serious attention to if they are to continue growing and flourishing in the Lord. Ignoring these may mean sudden spiritual death or gradual demise. These are none negotiable and must be taken seriously. Prayer, the word of God, fellowship with your local church, the infilling of the Holy Spirit, giving God ten percent of your income and being salt to the world. There is no negotiation with these things. Don’t try to wiggle your way out of them. Simply surrender and obey the word of instruction and direction.
SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 14:27-33 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which of you, intended to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘this man began to build and was not able to finish’? Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, teach me to obey Your word of instruction and direction. May my ultimate call be clear and purposeful in this world in Jesus’ name amen.
