Daily Devotion

There are times people treat God like an ordinary father. Yes they know He is God but treat him like Godfrey their grandfather. They love Him and all, but don’t have a reverent fear or awe of this God they talk about. They take God for granted like it doesn’t matter what He says or expects of them. The lack of the fear of God robs them of the opportunity to really benefit from all the blessings of God. When Jesus came to His home town where everybody knew Him, they had no fear or reverence of the messiah and as a result He couldn’t do much because of their unbelief. What He said was explained away just like what He did. They missed their opportunity because they had no reverence at.

Let us live aware of the grace, the goodness, the mercy and the wrath of God. Let us remember the great and terrible things He has done over the years and throughout history, so we can keep in mind the fact that He is the all-powerful creator of the universe. Let us come to God in prayer with the understanding that we are approaching the mercy throne of God that has been for eternity past and will forever reign. Let us put in perspective that fact that the God we call father created the millions of galaxies that we gaze at in the night as we try to comprehend the universe from the small planet we call home. He is absolutely unfathomable so we are awestruck with reverence. We shall then start to be effective as His children.

SCRIPTURE READING: Mark 6:1-6 Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing [Him] were astonished, saying, “Where [did] this Man [get] these things? And what wisdom [is] this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed [them.] And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, am grateful for your mercy and goodness. Lord, I believe you are the master of my life. Teach me to be faithful unto you in this walk of Christianity, Amen.
