Visiting Chicago many years ago, I was blessed to experience a spectacular fireworks display that left me in awe of beauty I had never seen. It was the 4th of July and the city put up a celebration to remember. The highlight of the night was the fireworks show that went on for about one hour. One million dollars’ worth of glorious explosions lit the city with rumbling colours and shapes that told a beautiful story. I was left in tears by the sheer wonder of the display. I couldn’t help but thank God for the gift of sight as I experienced something that one can’t explain to a blind person. No words can attempt to explain this experience to a blind man.
In the same way, there are spiritual things that can only be seen with spiritual eyes and all our efforts to explain these spiritual truths fall short of the experience itself. Failing to see in the spirit robs you of an awesome life changing experience that can’t be replicated any other way. The intricate dynamics at work in the spirit realm need an eye that sees. Life begins to make so much sense when you learn to see in the spirit.
Daily pray that you may see into the spirit and discern the things of God. That the eyes of your understanding become enlightened to behold spiritual truth and understand the spiritual dynamics at work around you. That you may see beyond the obvious and behind the visible. That somehow the lights are turned on and you clearly see what is hidden from the eye. Train your eye to see God at work, to look into the heart of man and to see into the realm of the spirit.
SCRIPTURE READING: Ephesians 1:15-23 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what [is] the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated [Him] at His right hand in the heavenly [places,] far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him [to be] head over all [things] to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Oh Lord, open my spiritual eyes so that I may behold your beauty. Teach me to separate the precious and the vile even as I discern in the spirit. May your truth consume me daily to understand these spiritual dynamics in Jesus’ name.
