God has given a new life for all in Christ. This is not a refurbished life. It is not a better version of the old. The entire life is totally new. It never grows old and stays new even after ten years. The new life is still a new life after you have walked twenty years in the new life. The old earthly life and its ways are all passed away. All the condemnation, judgement and methods are gone. There is a clear cut off period and God declares new life distinct from the old.
Refuse the old life, its ways, limits, motivations and methods. Put onto the side all you learned from the old life without Christ with all its limits. Ask God to open your eyes and heart to the new thing He is doing in you. Let your eyes look for the new and your heart embrace all God is doing. It’s different from what you are accustomed to so you should regularly double check that you are not going back to your old default settings. Continue on that learning curve to get into the new life for the new creature. You are a new creature. Reject and refuse the old. The new is here!
SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Therefore, if anyone [is] in Christ, [he is] a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things [are] of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore [you] on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin [to be] sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Lord Father, I thank you for the gift of a new life, open my eyes to see what you’re doing in me. Teach me to do life the new way. Amen.
