Life is about choices. From the cradle even a baby has a choice between swallowing and crying. They can’t do both at the same time. What you do, where you go, what you wear, what you eat, when you sleep and even when you arise from your bed. Life is about choices. Others would have you think that you don’t have a choice. They would want to take that choice from you and make it on your behalf. That is what distinguishes man from all the other creatures. We have the power of free will and choice.
Therefore learn to utilise the power of choice you have while alive. Don’t sit back and wait for others to dictate what you do and the results you get in life. Become an active participant in the life you lead through choosing what you believe. I didn’t say that choice is easy. Many people don’t want to make a choice because it is hard. The process is hard and living with the consequences is even harder. So it is easier for us to blame others, those we give the power of choice over us. Yet the truth still remains. Giving your power of choice to another is also a choice. There is no escaping choice. You have the God given right and power to decide with your free will what you are going to do. Choose well because you are going to have to live with your choices.
SCRIPTURE READING: Deuteronomy 30:19-20 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
DEVOTION PRAYER: Oh Lord, teach me to make the right choice while choosing which road to take. May I be an active participant in the life I lead in Jesus’ name.
