We all have friends with whom we share special bonds of love. We love them and connect with them in a special way that some we even call our best friends. We talk to them about everything and love to share everything with them. These friends become an integral part of our lives that we can’t imagine life without them. Losing a friend can be a life altering experience that becomes a bench mark for many of the things we do in life. Almost everyone has a friend of sorts, if not in person, in their imaginations.
I give you Jesus the best friend you will ever need. He is always with you, even when you are sleeping. He understands all that you go through. He leads, guides, encourages, comforts, strengthens, corrects and empowers you every step of the way. This Jesus friend loves you unconditionally. In your lowest or highest moments, He is with you. A friend that is closer than a brother, a Lord who would rather treat you like a friend. Always looking out for your good, interceding for you and simply being your tightest friend. In Jesus you have the best friend possible. So don’t ignore Him like He is not with you. Build that friendship and nurture it all the way. Let the good thing that you have going with Jesus blossom and flourish.
SCRIPTURE READING: John 15:11-16 I have told you these things so that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing. 12 “This is My commandment, that you love and unselfishly seek the best for one another, just as I have loved you. 13 No one has greater love than to lay down his own life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you keep on doing what I command you. 15 I do not call you servants any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you [My] friends, because I have revealed to you everything that I have heard from My Father. 16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name [as My representative] He may give to you.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Thank you Jesus for your unconditional friendship. Thank you for understanding me and whatever I am going through. Help me nurture and build our friendship. Give me the grace to bear fruit that will remain. Amen.
