While there are many lords, there is only one God. We have kings, presidents, governors but only one God. This is because God means, originator, creator and upholder. He is the supreme, ultimate, alpha and omega of all life. He was before all and will be after all. Nothing exists outside Him and without Him all things are nothing. The rest simply copy, modify or even duplicate. He is eternal. Meaning that the past, present and future are all combined in Him.
I give you Jesus the eternal God. In the beginning He was with God and was God until God sent Him, a part of Himself to come take residence among men with flesh and blood. Through that present God was in our neighbourhood establishing the New Covenant with us that all who will ever live in the present would, have a present help in times of need. He setup an eternity forever securing a glorious future for all that are in Him. Passed from the uncertainty of the future, we live in the blessed assurance of life everlasting with the Lord. He went ahead into eternity to prepare a place for us where we shall see Him face to face. In that eternal city we shall dwell with Him for the rest of eternity. I don’t think any gift can compare to just one fraction of a billion to that.
SCRIPTURE READING: John 1:1-12 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. 2 He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. 3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. 4 In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].6 There came a man commissioned and sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe [in Christ, the Light] through him. 8 John was not the Light, but came to testify about the Light.9 There it was—the true Light [the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light] which, coming into the world, enlightens everyone. 10 He (Christ) was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. 11 He came to that which was His own [that which belonged to Him—His world, His creation, His possession] , and those who were His own [people—the Jewish nation] did not receive and welcome Him. 12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name
