Jesus described Himself to his disciples as the bread of heaven. Having fed five thousand men with a few loaves of bread and fish, a multitude gathered about Jesus excepting among the many things He was doing, loads of free bread. His response was that He was the bread given by God for all men. He was not going to give them bread but rather He was giving Himself as the bread they needed. Surprised and taken aback, the numbers dwindled to the faithful few.
Let us consume Jesus as the bread of heaven. Don’t be engrossed by what He is doing around you but rather be captivated by His person and a relationship with Him. It’s not about what He can give you but rather having a connection with Him. As the bread of heaven, Jesus is all about giving you what you need to flourish, be satisfied and content in life. As you need natural food to survive on the planet, you must have the spiritual food to spiritually survive. Jesus is the bread of heaven.
SCRIPTURE READING: John 6:32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, may I be captivated by You in this life. I believe that you have given me all that I need to be content and satisfied in this world, Amen.
