Imagine a long moonless night with no light at hand. The darkness would be crippling and paralysing. You can’t see a thing, can’t move, can’t do and can’t even think. No wonder people hardly do things in the night. The homes are closed and everyone is tucked into bed as they wait for the break of day. Darkness can be restrictive as it presents all kinds of dangers. Compare that to the noonday shine and brightness. Nothing is hidden, life is teaming, and people are laughing and exuberant as they enjoy unrestricted life under the sun. That is the power of light.
Jesus boldly declared he was the light of the world. Those that live, walk and do life in the light are not afraid of the darkness as they are not in darkness. All the works of darkness are far from them as they are perpetually walking in the light. The peace, clarity, joy and productivity of being in the light is always available for those in the light. Jesus takes you out of the challenges and dangers of walking in darkness. You don’t live in fear, ignorance or bondage. The Son of God is the sun of the world. The glorious beauty of life comes into vibrant manifestation in Jesus. Don’t walk in darkness. Choose the light.
SCRIPTURE READING: John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
DEVOTION PRAYER: My Lord, your word teaches me of the greatness of your light in me. I shine brighter and brighter into a perfect day. May I continue to shine in this world, Amen.
