A story is told of a father who had two son with different attitudes. He gave one a bunch of toys all wrapped up for Christmas. To his surprise, he found the young man dejected as he looked at all the boxes complaining. “All these toys, need to be assembled, organised and played with. When the other children hear about them they will all come running and wanting to play with them and mess up the place.” This was a negative attitude. The father had also put a heap of cow dung manure in his brother’s room. Checking on the other son, he found him inside that heap of manure hands and feet excitedly going through it all. He said to the father, “With all this manure in here, there must be a calf hiding in there.” Attitude is the difference.

Life is 10% what happens and 90% how we respond to it. We can worry, bicker, complain and paralyse ourselves with a bad attitude or we can get positive and make the most of where we are. Refuse to worry about anything and talk to God about everything. Influential people must maintain a positive attitude in a negative world. Refuse to go the way of negativity with all the bad going on around you. Stay positive with God.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Samuel 30:1-6 Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire, and had taken captive the women and those who werethere, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried [them] away and went their way. So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. Then David and the people who [were] with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Oh Lord, your word teaches me to meditate on things that are noble and lovely. May my mind be stayed unto You to see the positive out of the negative situation in Jesus’ name, Amen
