At the beginning of the year, many people make resolutions to do certain things and to stop doing certain things. For some it’s just a matter of going through the motions. Yet in all honesty, this is a great opportunity to transition into a better person. When God took Moses to glory, the instructions to Joshua were very clear, “Moses is gone, it’s time for you to saddle up and get ready to take the nation into the Promised Land”. Joshua had to accept the fact that Moses was gone.
What are those things you need to accept are part of your yesterday? It may be limitations, restrictions or just outdated blessings and methodologies. It may even be a simple case of moving on. Entering 2020 gives you a great opportunity to let certain things go as you move on with what the Lord has in store for you. Time to move forward!
SCRIPTURE READING: Joshua 1:1-5
After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall [be able to] stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Thank you Jesus for the blessing of a new year and the opportunity to transition into a better me. I pray for the wisdom to do things a better way this year. I choose to move forward into my Promised Land. Amen.
