Even though Israel as a nation had been born in the bondage of slavery in Egypt, they knew for a fact that God had given them the Promised Land and it was only a matter of time for them to possess it. They actually called it their inheritance long before they had even taken one acre of land as God had given it to their forefathers. They understood that it was their God given inheritance and as such demanded for it. Entering the Promised Land was the result of a maturing nation stepping into its God given destiny.
In the same way, the promises of God are your inheritance as His child but you must mature into the things of God. As long as you stay a child and refuse to grow you can’t possess. Put aside childish ways and act like an adult in the things of God. As long as you behave like a child crying for ice cream your inheritance will be kept from you. Yes, you enjoy the pampering that a baby gets but you get to a place where you refuse to be a baby for ever and grow. Possessing the land is not for babies looking for the next bottle of milk but mature men who have crashed some bones and act like adults.
SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, teach me to mature in You to possess my inheritance, Amen.
