We have many understandings of holiness. Some think it means having a shower twice a day. For others it means praying five times a day, walking with a humble face, resisting temptation or not watching some TV program. Holiness in its truest sense means to be separated from sin. Just like sin means to fall short of the mark or standard. Possessing the land comes after deliverance and holiness. There are things that are just not for you and you must be separated from them. That is holiness.
Don’t do things just because everyone is doing them. Refuse to be like everyone just for the sake of appearing to fit in. Your prosperity is not like everyone. Your blessing is not the same as your classmates. You are separated from the world and should not conform to it. Be different, separate and distinct. Resist the urge to jump onto the next bandwagon. The stories you hear should not suck you into something that is not yours. As a child of God you’re different and separate from the world. Possessing the land for the world may mean corruption and going up the ladder at the expense of values and principles. That is not your story. God has another way for you that you must follow. Holiness comes before possessing the land.
SCRIPTURE READING: Obadiah 1:17 But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I believe the plans the You have for me are prosperous. Consecrate my thoughts and plans for You. May I be different and deliberate while possessing the land, Amen.
