It has been said in the English proverb that “Opportunity knocks once”. The moral of the proverb is that we need to make the necessary preparations so that when the door of opportunity shows up we are ready to open that door. To discern is to develop the ability to distinguish between several things. It is also described as the ability to choose between what is good or beneficial and what isn’t. Just like skill is developed through constant practice or exercise, the ability to discern is also developed through exercising ourselves. If we always listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit through our spirits we will be guaranteed of victory every time. The secret in doing this effectively is starting to be diligent concerning this in the small things. As we go forth to possess the land, let’s develop discerning hearts.
SCRIPTURE READING: Hebrews 5:14But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I pray that you give me a discerning heart as I go forth to possess the land in Jesus Name, Amen.
