Tough times cause us to question what we believe. We wonder if the Bible is true and if the things we think we know are eternal. Life throws all kinds of curve balls your way that want to throw you off balance and get you questioning what you believe. Sickness and pain can linger, lack and needs sometimes endure. Then there are those moments you feel forgotten and abandoned by everyone including God. You pray and don’t get the answers you are looking for while those that don’t seek God seem to have it easy and get promoted quickly. Such moments don’t make sense to us and they tend to be more frequent than we would want. The ultimate response to things we don’t fully understand is doing something we don’t fully understand. Worship.
Worship God when things make sense and when nothing makes sense. You don’t understand what is going wrong or going on behind the scene. Worship also engages the power of God behind the scene that you don’t fully understand. Worship invites God to work on your behalf. Worship magnifies God while it belittles your issues. Worship calms your heart as it calms the storm. Worship deploys the resources of heaven while it brings peace to your heart and mind. Instead of going wild with all kinds of trigger happy solutions, worship brings control and firmness of heart and mind. Worship creates an atmosphere where the power of God is activated on your behalf. When the devil does things you don’t understand you can do something he will never understand, worship Jesus. Tough love worships.
SCRIPTURE READING: Acts 16:25-26 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Loving Father, may I learn to worship you even during tough times. May my spirit sing a song of praise in such a time, amen.
