A desperate mother came to Jesus seeking a miracle for her sick and tormented daughter. She walked an entire day to find the Lord. The disciples tried to deny her for several reasons. She caused commotion which caught Jesus attention. When he got the facts, he clearly denied her request. The woman was so serious with her request that she still insisted even after Jesus compared her to a dog. She was relentless and desperate in her pursuit of happiness that nothing would deny her.
The things we desire we pursue with all our hearts, our might and strength. Nothing is too difficult or impossible. I encourage you to pursue the presence of God. In prayer, the word, worship and our lifestyle, let us pursue God. Do whatever it takes, however long it takes, where it takes years. The presence of God is reserved only for those that will desperately pursue Him.
SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 15:22-28 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw [it] to the little dogs.” And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great [is] your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, it’s my desire to pursue You with my work and lifestyle. May my heart live to glorify your name, amen.
