Daily Devotion

We all remember the kid in school that always wanted to have fun? In high school I had such a classmate. He was at every sports event but not every classroom event. We always playing around, joking, chatting into the night and at every event that was enjoyable and fun. He figured out how to get alcohol and marijuana. While the rest of us would wake up early to study, he would sleep in and get going whenever he was ready. Needless to say he failed to graduate and was kicked out of school. I met him five years out of high school and he was still high on something having fun. He became a junky for the rest of his life.

While having fun and enjoying pleasures is acceptable, it is also a quick way to wasting your life and failing to fulfil your destiny. The pleasures of this world can somehow grab your life so tight that you live for nothing, but having fun. Many individuals have been blinded and whisked away from destiny by some simple pleasures and having fun. Harden your heart to every passing worldly pleasure and keep your focus on destiny.

SCRIPTURE READING: Proverbs 21:17 He who loves pleasure [will be] a poor man; He who loves wine and oil will not be rich.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, teach me to be obedient and steadfast to your word. Let the pleasures of this world cease to be the center of my focus, amen.
