THE OPPORTUNITY COST

In economics, we hear about the word opportunity cost. This is the price of foregoing something in order to get something else. Life is such that you can’t get it all. By focusing your energy and strength on a particular thing, you are forsaking so many other things. This opportunity price means you are forfeiting the many opportunities available so you can focus on the one thing you believe is your destiny.

You can’t become a preacher while still holding onto your lifestyle as a gangster. Many individuals try their hand at many things yet honestly it is impossible to become all that in one life time. Refuse to be a jack of all trades and a master of none. I have seen many people trying to become something while refusing to let everything else go. The law of focus demands that you let go of the things that are not up there with your destiny if you are going to get there. Obviously certain divergent things converge into your destiny but make no mistake, you must forsake certain things and pay the opportunity cost for you destiny.

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 14:27-33 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has [enough] to finish [it]— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see [it] begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, guide me to focus on that which is of great benefit to my destiny in Jesus name, amen.
