Daily Devotion

The things of God are received with our hearts not our minds. This doesn’t mean that we don’t have sober minds, but rather we allow our hearts to grasp what the Lord is doing in us. Our minds are limited and crippled by questions and all kinds of doubts. The mind process what we consume through the five senses. But then the mind is limited in the realm of the natural and what it has been given. And that is where your heart comes into the picture. It takes you beyond the natural into the spiritual. Faith is of the heart just like smelling and tasting is of the natural. Your mind should therefore be a filter for the things of God while your heart should be the engine.

Your miracle is not going to be of the mind but of the heart. Now you get your mind to work with God and cooperate with the things of God as you ground yourself in His word and work with Him to get you to the level where your heart connects with God. Your heart must kick in at that point because faith is of the heart. Your miracle will by pass your mind and connect with your heart. Your breakthrough will not make sense to your mind at some point but will resonate with your heart. Just like David knew in His heart that God would deliver Goliath into his hands. That was a heart thing not a mind thing because in his mind Goliath was bigger, worse and grander than David. But in HIs heart, David knew God would do it again. When it comes to miracles, use your heart not just your mind.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Samuel 17:32-37 Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you [are] a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered [the lamb] from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught [it] by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!”
