Daily Devotion

God has created the human being as an incredible machine, for the lack of a better word. You are able to do things with or without thinking that are just incredible.  The human mind can accomplish feats that we take for granted but on close inspection are just incredible. One such things is the ability to forget or not to forget. There are certain things that you can never forget. These are imprinted onto your brain so deep, it takes God to forget them. Then there are those things we want to remember but seem to forget, even though we know they are inside your mind. This is where your willpower comes into play. You can deliberately forget or remember the things you choose in life.

Coming to this new season, we must deliberately forget certain things. Having done things in a particular way for a long time, we tend to get into that habit. Having had certain experiences, we tend to expect certain results at every turn, and almost by reflex, move ourselves into that same direction. Failure and even success, can set a standard that we mentally expect along the way. It takes a deliberate effort to forget the past, good or bad and move onto the future with all its promises.

God commands us many times through the scriptures to forget the past as we move onto the future He has for us. You just can’t move into tomorrow while holding onto yesterday. You can’t drive forward with your eyes fixed on the rear view mirror. There are things you must forget in order to move on to greater things. Not just the bad, but good things as well can hold us away from our destiny. This is a new season for you. What are the things you must deliberately forget as you embrace your future? Forget that! It is time to move onto this!

SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 43:18-19( NLT) “But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father,  I choose to forget the past and move to the future in Jesus name amen.
