Daily Devotion

I have heard many people say they want to serve God after they retire from their profession. They want to do their thing for many years then when they have nothing else to do find time to serve the Lord. While this may sound humble and sincere, the order of things is wrong. Most who take this approach to life leave the planet before they do a thing for the Lord. And those that start saving God after retirement are already tired to be effective in the kingdom.

First things First means you give God your best. Don’t wait until you are old and tired, unable to get out of bed before you get serving.  God deserves your best. While you are still strong, enthusiastic and ambitious.  Don’t give God the leftovers of life, but the very best. Many times people give their old stuff to charity and that is good. However, God is not charity so don’t give him the leftovers but the very best. Give God the best of your resources, time, effort, connections and the very best of everything you have. Its not enough to just give anything, lets give Him our best.

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 4:1-5 AND ADAM knew Eve as his wife, and she became pregnant and bore Cain; and she said, I have gotten and gained a man with the help of the Lord. And [next] she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground. And Abel brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat portions. And the Lord had respect and regard for Abel and for his offering, But for Cain and his offering He had no respect or regard. So Cain was exceedingly angry and indignant, and he looked sad and depressed.
