Daily Devotion

Professional basketballers have this amazing play where they are running down the court and one player throws the ball to their team mate who grabs it and dunks it all in one move, without touching the ground. The Alley Oop as it has been called for decades was an accidental move that was stumbled upon when a player decided they didn’t have to land in order to dunk but they could just go for the kill in one simple but elegant move. The defences are always helpless with this move because it happens while in transition. There is no time to think, plan, react or even see what is going on. The Alley Oop is one of those potent offensive move that leaves everyone stunned or stung, as it happens in a single choleoghraphed work of art.

The seasons of life are inevitably marching on with or without you. There is no stopping to think, assess or wait on everyone else to get onto the program. The season is not waiting for your cousin to get into the right frame of mind, get back to school or find a job. The world never stops as the wheels of time never seize. Father Time has connived with Mother Nature to keep throwing life at you in whatever manner, fashion and from every angle. This is where you must react on the go and get on with the program. There is no time for you to take your sweet time and things at your pace and in your time.  You must play the game in transition and go for the Alley Oop!

As the seasons change, you must change. Refuse to be left behind wondering whatever happened to the spilled milk. There is more milk in the Tomorrow lands. Ignore the pain that keeps drawing you back to what things used to be like. Turn off those memories that keep pulling you back to yesteryear. Don’t wait for the dust to settle and everything to return to normal. Normal is perpetually being reinvented. There is a lot going on behind the scenes and under the carpet. By the time the dust settles, you will be too backward to catch up! Change the mode of operation and go for the Alley Oop today! Make your move before the dust settles!

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 9:59-62 Then He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.” And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go [and] bid them farewell who are at my house.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

DEVOTION PRAYER: My God, I am determined to do great and incredible things for your glory in this season, hallelujah.
