One of the things I enjoy the most about travelling is the places and seasons in the many regions of the world. My first winter was in the Windy City of Chicago where we had snow on the grow for four long months. That winter lifestyle of soups, fires, jumpers and indoor living was something else for this outdoors veteran. The fall in the Carolinas through Tennessee is one beautiful display of nature, you can never get enough of as every tree seems to display the grace of God. The clear skies of the Australian outback are unrivalled in their reveal of the galaxies when caught in the summer simmer of desert living. The tropical rains in Africa are another thing all together as the earth drinks of the life giving grace that soon springs forth into a diverse unrivalled ecosystem. As you can see, each season can and should be enjoyed.
Life is not about where we are going but how we embrace where we are. Do you find yourself stuck in an airplane for the next ten hours? Instead of being worked up about where you are going and all you will find on the ground, take the time to enjoy that flight and appreciate the joy of being 30,000 feet above sea level. Even when the situation is not enjoyable, you can make the most of it, learn from it and take something positive out of it. I can’t guarantee what the different seasons will bring. I can assure that the seasons will change. And you can make the decision to rejoice and enjoy the grace of God in every season. Refuse to be one of those that only gets to enjoy where they are coming from by looking at old pictures of the season. Get into your now moment and enjoy that season.
Is it summer? Then become a summer girl! Is it winter? Then simply declare you love the cold and it doesn’t bother you anyway! Are you limited and restricted? Enjoy the moment. Are you single and unmarried? Enjoy the season. Are you happily married to the love of your life? Enjoy the moment. Do you occasionally find yourself struggling with where you are? You can still enjoy the moment. The condition of your heart is affected by the decisions you make and you can make the decision to have some fun, relax and enjoy where you are even when its a bad place. There are times you should stop huffing and puffing and simply take a deep breath, trust God and enjoy that season!
SCRIPTURE READING: Philippians 4:1-4 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names [are] in the Book of Life. Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, You are my joy and salvation. I rejoice in You, amen.
