Daily Devotion

Children like to play by the beach in the sand, building sandcastles and having fun. Unskilled workers use the sand to make mortar, make bricks and build relatively strong structures. Skilled workers use the same sand to make glass and almost by miracle something beautiful comes out of the dust. Highly skilled workers make computer parts, televisions and all kinds of sophisticated electronics out of the same sand. As you can see, there are different levels at which different people utilize the same input to get different results.

The word of God is the greatest blessing this generation and humanity has been given. Through its many pages, the life of God is perpetually oozing and flowing forth to change all that will care to partake of it. Nations have been changed and empowered by it. Lives have been transformed through it. Minds have been enlightened through its wisdom. It never stops giving, speaking, working and blessing lives. The Bible is the greatest blessing available today, unlimited, unrestricted, unchallenged and unending.

Surprisingly though, not many people come to the word of God on a regular basis to maximize all its blessings. We don’t appreciate the fact that it’s the bread of life and life can’t really get to its best without this life giving word of God. Some go years, months and weeks without drawing from it. We are too busy, too excited, too lazy or too knowledgeable for the word of God.

Let us make a daily habit of getting into the word of God and maximizing it. Dedicate a time and a place to get into your Bible. Translate all you are getting into practical daily activities that will have you living out what God is speaking to you. Filter your world through the lenses of God’s word. Take time to work the word of God in your life and allow God to work His word in your life as well. How can you get all those promises in the Bible to become a reality in your life today? Maximize the word of God in your life today. Are you playing with the sand or making something of great value?

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalms 1:1-6 Blessed [is] the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. The ungodly [are] not so, But [are] like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Oh God, teach me to focus on your word through my daily life. May I learn to maximise the blessing of the word in Jesus name amen.
