Daily Devotion

Statistics have shown that many people become sick and eventually die a few short years after they retire from work. While still employed or engaged in doing some sort of work, we get up early and get busy doing some specific things with our lives. We meet people, solve problems, get excited, frustrated and all the different things that make life happen. In retirement, most people simply lose purpose, direction and drift off into nothing. Work therefore is one of the greatest blessings we can enjoy as it gives us purpose and direction for each day. Those blessed enough to find their purpose in life and work it each day enjoy life to its fullest.

Like Adam in the Garden of Eden, let’s get about doing our purpose and work with enthusiasm and great joy. That work, calling, purpose or objective should be embraced with the excitement of having to do something of value with your life. Whatever you do is of great significance to many untold individuals out there in so many ways. God has kept you alive for that purpose and you should go do it with drive and great expectations. Many people out there don’t have the same opportunity to do something similar. Many are lost without purpose and are living a meaningless existence. And here you are blessed to be at work in one way or another! Make the most of each day at working and making a difference.

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 2:15 And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it.

DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I am grateful for teaching me the benefit of work. I choose to make the best out of it, amen.
