Right from the time of creation of man in Genesis, we see that whenever mankind obeyed God His blessings would flow. When sin came into the equation through disobedience, it caused a disruption of the flow of God’s blessing. Just as obedience to God and His instructions brings blessings, persistent disobedience chokes the blessings from flowing as God intends them to. A classic example is the life of Saul the first king of Israel. He began by taking it upon himself to offer the sacrifice when he wasn’t a priest. Next he was taking spoils from the Amalekites when God had instructed them to destroy everything under the pretense of it being an offering to God. May we learn to quickly obey God’s instructions that we receive to position ourselves for His choicest blessings.
SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Samuel 15:22-23 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, Thank you for the grace you release upon my life to obey your instructions in Jesus Name, Amen.
