There has been alot of confusion about the subject of money and material possession in Christian circles. Some groups think and actually teach that money is evil. But that’s not what scriptures say about money. Others think that having money or material possession is a litmus test of being prosperous and having God’s blessing. This can be very misleading. The biblical way is to stay in the middle of the road where we love and serve God as well as view money as an instrument that we use to serve God and be a blessing to humanity.
Money was never meant to be our master. We were created to love God and His people not money. We all need money and use money to pay bills, take care of several issues in life. We should never come to a place of wanting money at all costs. That’s where the love of money and greed set in. That’s where illegal money will come your way. If the love of money has not been dealt with, you will not be able to withstand the temptation. Let’s have our eyes and hearts set on God. He is able to take care of us. He does it kingdom style.
SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Timothy 6: 9-10 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me to steer clear of the love of money. May my heart always be set on you as the true source of all that I need in Jesus Name, Amen.
