Hypocrisy is one of the worst vices one can have in this world. This is the state and act of doing and saying things one doesn’t mean or believes in but puts up a show as one that does. He puts up a rule for himself and another for everyone else. We ought to avoid such if our walk of prayer is to be effective and fruitful.
Jesus warns us against hypocrisy for this is the practice of the heathen who do things for men and not for God. They stand to pray yet they are giving God “lip service” and not true worship, they come to God boastful instead of being broken and contrite before Him, they make up stories and excuses instead of repenting and taking responsibility.
You need to pray like a child of God, being real about the trouble you’re facing and allowing yourself to be vulnerable before God remember His strength is made perfect in your weakness so there’s no need to show your strength before God who sees how weak and helpless you are before Him. Allow God to work in and through you as you pray.
SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 6:5 KJV And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come before you today repenting of the times I’ve not been as open and real with you about my troubles, I ask for grace to pray the right way for you to intervene in my situations in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
