Meaningless words are those words that have no value, purpose and significance. Words that we just use for the sake maybe because we heard them being used by someone and want to look as educated and serious as they are but they have no consequence because they are vague and of no value whatsoever in as far as what we’re doing is concerned.
Jesus in Mathew 6 admonishes us to avoid using repetitive and meaningless words for these don’t get us results in prayer. They are like a boxer that’s spurring in the air, hitting nothing yet using much strength. We ought to get to the place of prayer with effect by using words we mean and have a particular purpose.
This means when we talk about food in prayer, it’s because we want God to address a food issue we have and the same is true about all the other aspects and words used in prayer, we mean all that we say to God.
When we come to God we ought not to impress Him with big and ambiguous words that don’t even make sense to us but to come with simple yet very meaningful words to us for then do we share our heartbeat with Him and He’s more than willing to help us.
SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 6:7 KJV But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Dear God, as I look to you today, help me to be real and honest with you in my prayer in the name of Jesus.
